A Little Blood for Halloween Eve

Vampires! Everyone's talking about them, watching them on tv and the big screen, reading about them. Some people even want to date them! And other people label their wine, Vampire.

I read about it online and decided to try it for my Halloween Eve libation. The Vampire website casts doubt on the provenance of the winery - is the founder human or a vampire? I'll let you decide - they're from New York.

Their cabernet grapes are grown in the Paso Robles region of California, central coast. My take on the wine is it's a little spicy, a little oaky, and a little berry-licious. But not a lot of anything. Their website says they smooth out the cab with a little Syrah, but I'm not thinking too highly of it. It's definitely not a sipping wine, the intensity of flavor is just not there. It's dry with just a hint of sweetness. It might be good with a really robust Italian meal or steak. I paid $15.49 at my local grocery and unless someone threatens my throat with some really scary fangs, I don't think I'll be shelling out any more cash for this wine. Sorry, not a favorite. 13.5% alcohol.
